Barbora Klímová

Barbora Klímová

Barbora Klímová is an artist, performer and a graduate of the Fine Arts Faculty of the Technical University. She is a laureate of the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize for the year 2006, which she won for her performance. She gave her project the name Replaced. It was about a work by five Czech performers from the 1970s and 1980s, which she brought up to date. For example, she planted a flower in a gap between cobblestones at the Brno Nový Špalíček Cultural Centre, and she spent a night by a tree at Moravian Square in Brno, where she lay down between people with her head towards the ground.

Kateřina Šachová

Kateřina Šachová

Kateřina Šachová is a graphic designer and illustrator. Her works in the field of graphic design are harmoniously pure and joyous at the same time and have an overall calligraphic character. She works well with empty space and line fragility. She is the author of several works both for children and adults.

Ľubomír Longauer

Ľubomír Longauer

Professor Ľubomír Longauer is a key person in Slovak graphic design involved in a wide range of creative and research activities. The creation of the separate Department of Graphic Design at the Fine Arts University in Bratislava in 1999 is attributed to him. He has held numerous independent exhibits and joint exhibits of works at home and abroad. He devotes his time to his own creation involving posters, useful graphics as well as publishing, research and organisation of exhibits. He devotes extraordinary effort to researching the history of graphic design, which has reached the cycle of exhibits of Slovak Typography I and II presented in 2004, 2005 and 2006 in Bratislava and Bánská Bystrica.

Radana Lencová

Radana Lencová

During her studies at the Fine Arts Faculty, Radana Lencová was interested in creative approaches to work with letters, both creative (optical, illuminated, photographic) and purely typographical (she created her own alphabet styles: Bubble font, Golem, Poisson, Sonáta, Mimikry, etc.). Since 2000 she has been cooperating with the Svět publishing company as a graphic designer. For her work for that publisher, she has received awards, including the prize for the Most Beautiful Czech Book, Photography Publication of the Year and others. During her doctoral studies, she proposed a new school font called Comenia Script for elementary schools, which has become part of the typographical project Comenia - Czech school font (Brousil, Lencová, Štorm).

Rick Poynor

Rick Poynor

Rick Poynor is a British writer, critic, instructor and curator. He specialises in design, media, photography and visual culture. He is the hosting professor at the Royal College of Art in London. He has written several monographs about key British individuals in the field of arts and design: Brian Eno (musician), Nigel Coates (architect), Vaughan Oliver (graphic artist) and Herbert Spencer (graphic artist). In other books, he has documented and analysed general tendencies in the field of graphic design and typography. These include Typography Now, the first international survey of digital typography of the late 1980s and 1990s, and No More Rules, a critical study of graphic design and post-modernism. Poynor has also published three collections of essays: Design Without Boundaries, Obey the Giant and Designing Pornotopia.
