The term design is still used in the Czech language in a very simple way. The concept of design is presented to the public through products whose quality is viewed only as decorative in nature. But on the other hand, the Czech Republic has been developing and manufacturing high-quality industrial and design products in large volumes. Under the Design for Prosperity project Dynamo maps Czech firms which have dedicated their business to design and cooperation with designers. This project focuses on how the direct and indirect impact of design reflects on the market success of the company.

Studio Olgoj Chorchoj has since 1990 dedicated itself to urban design, architecture, interior design, exhibition and design products, especially glass, furniture, lamps and jewelry. The founders Michal Fronek and Jan Nemecek have headed the UMPRUM product design studio since 1999.

Thomas Feichtner is an Austrian designer who has achieved considerable success in the field of industrial design. His new work in the area of furniture and design of various objects oscillates between industrial design and handcrafted products and between mass production and original work. The lecture presents his experimental work procedures in detail.

Jan A. Bata wished to establish a pragmatically oriented school, which would produce a commercially viable alternative to state arts education. In addition to traditional subjects, the Bata School also focused on fields and subjects that regular art schools did not offer. These included advertising, exhibitions, the art of arrangement and industrial design, in particular that which originated in the context of the city of Zlín. The school gained an internationally respected and unique position.
